The Beginning
1908-1909: Construction of the Titanic begins in Belfast, Ireland.
April 10, 1912: Passengers, rich and poor, arrive in Southampton and board the ship.
April 10, 1912: The Titanic leaves the harbor at noon, and begins her maiden journey to New York.
April 12, 1912: The Titanic sails through calm waters.
April 13, 1912: The Titanic sails through calm waters.
April 14: 1912: Frederick Fleet sees an iceberg dead ahead. The iceberg makes a 300 foot gash on the right side of the bow. Water starts entering... |
The End
April 15, 1912: At midnight, the Captain orders to call for help on the radio. Other liners' operators are not active.
April 15, 1912: 25 minutes after, woman and children are loaded onto lifeboats. The Carpathia, 58 miles away, picks up distress call and hurries to the rescue.
April 15, 1912: At 2:05 AM, the last life boat leaves. 1,500 passengers left. Titanic's deck grows steeper...
April 15, 1912: At 2:20 AM, the Titanic breaks apart, and enters the water. People in water slowly freeze to death.
April 15, 1912: At 4:10 AM, the first lifeboat is picked up by the Carpathia.
April 15, 1912: At 8:50 AM, The Carpathia carries 705 survivors, and leaves for New York. |
